When to go
Best seasons to hunt in Serengeti:
- June – October: dry season; wildlife concentrated near water; highest success rate.
- November – December: short rains, fewer tourists, better prices.
- January – March: calving season, lots of young animals, but tall grass.
Permits
Tanzanian authorities require:
1. Entry visa (issued electronically within 5 business days). 2. Hunting permit per quarry (issued via your vetted operator). 3. Firearm import permit if bringing your own (rentals available from the operator).
Expected cost
A 7-day all-inclusive trip (flight, lodging, guide, permits, insurance) runs from 5,500 to 8,000 KWD depending on season.
Gear you must not forget
- Earth-toned clothing (avoid white and blue).
- Polarised sunglasses.
- Sturdy hunting boots.
- Anti-malarial (prescription only).
